The Story Behind Cook, Crime & Dine

We believe that food is one of the most intimate parts of human life — and sometimes, it becomes part of the darkest chapters too. Cook, Crime & Dine explores that intersection with curiosity, respect, and a genuine love of cooking.

How It Started

It began with a Beef Wellington. When the Erin Patterson case broke in Australia in 2023, the dish at the centre of it was everywhere — reported, debated and dissected in a way that few meals ever are.

What struck us was how often the food itself is the part everyone remembers. The last meal requested before an execution. The family dinner that turned out to be something else entirely. The dish that becomes shorthand for an entire case.

So Cook, Crime & Dine was conceived as a place to hold both things at once: the story, told carefully and sourced properly, and the recipe, written and tested so that it actually works in your kitchen.

Our Principles

How We Tell These Stories

Respect for Victims

Every story we tell acknowledges the real people affected. We never sensationalise suffering or make light of tragedy. Our focus is on the culinary and investigative details, told with sensitivity.

Culinary Accuracy

Every recipe is thoroughly tested and written to professional standards. We want you to cook these dishes with confidence — and enjoy them. The food is always the hero.

Responsible Storytelling

We draw from court records, news reports, and verified sources. Where cases involve ongoing legal proceedings, we note this clearly. We never share information that could cause harm.

A Note on Sensitivity

The cases featured on this site involve real events that affected real people. We approach every story with the understanding that behind the headlines are families, communities, and lives forever changed. Our intent is never to trivialise or exploit — but to explore the fascinating, sometimes unsettling, intersection of food and crime with the gravity it deserves.
